Set to make a grand debut

The Asilixi Torch Carnival is the first stop in the “Nature’s Cool, Biyan’s Wild Fun” series of events, which invites participants to explore Bijie alongside the blazing torches. Event dates: July 24–26, 2026 Lasting three days, this event seamlessly blends intangible cultural heritage celebrations, high-altitude summer retreats, hot-spring wellness, and the rich cultural legacy of the Yelang region, inviting you to escape the sweltering heat and savor a summer feast of fire and refreshing breezes.

The first stop of Bijie City’s annual Torch Carnival has landed in Hezhang—no coincidence. Hezhang harbors a top‑tier, hidden haven for summer‑time cultural and tourism experiences; this enigmatic former territory of the Yelang Kingdom boasts a one‑of‑a‑kind highland coolness and breathtaking natural scenery.

The nation’s only wild Chinese chive flower conservation area and the world’s largest contiguous wild chive flower belt, it is hailed as the “Blue Sapphire of the Earth” and the “Provence of the East.” Throughout the year, gentle mountain breezes caress your face, free from the sweltering heat of summer.

In August, wild chive blossoms bloom in succession among the mountains. The sea of clouds and sunrise surge across the mountains, and from the summit you can take in a panoramic view of the entire Wumeng Range. The rolling purple waves of blooming flowers, set against the windmills and towering rock pinnacles, make for picture-perfect, soothing scenes at every turn. The scenic area is equipped with cable cars and sightseeing buses, making it easy to reach the top and savor the breathtaking vistas above the clouds.

The National Climate Center of the China Meteorological Administration, in collaboration with “China Weather,” has analyzed the typical climatic characteristics, ecological environment, disaster risks, and climate trend forecasts for various regions during the summer. Drawing on input from local meteorological agencies and cultural‑tourism authorities, they have produced a 2026 map highlighting high‑quality summer‑resort climate resources—and Jiucaiping has been included!
